about the text PROFETA by Abhishek Majumdar (India)

This project was born from the encounter of Prophet, a text written by Hindu artist Abhishek Majumdar, which takes place in the colonial period in the 19th century. In it, a fortune teller claims that a prophet of the slaves will be born in the family of the masters. Using biblical and quantum episodes, Majumdar’s piece carries out the thesis that religion and politics have been inseparable since time immemorial.
Based on Abhishek Majumdar’s Prophet, Laura Kalauz and Sofia Medici create a guided tour to a museum of the future. There, the spectators come across objects that commemorate several revolutions and counterrevolutions of the 21st century.
In Línea histórica, the prophets this time are Diego Golombek (scientist), Marcelo Valko (psychologist and investigator), Florencia Montfort (journalist and feminist), Soledad Barrutti (Food Sovereignty expert) and Nicolás Cohen (Technology expert).
These five sources narrate different versions of an unknown and near future, where prediction and fiction get mixed up in order to complete the sense of a plural historical speech.
