Tomás Espina

He was born in 1975. Son of a Chilean mother and Argentine father. As for the exile of his parents he has lived in Mexico, Mozambique and Chile. In 1992 he settled in Argentina, first in Unquillo and then in Buenos Aires. He has a degree in visual arts from UNA. He won the First Prize Petrobras / arteBA 6ª Ed, Bs. As. (2009). He was distinguished as Artist of the Year by the Argentine Association of Art Critics in 2009. He participated in 2011 in the MAC / VAL residencies in France and in Art OMI in the United States.

Among his recent solo exhibitions are Haiti, Bien al Sur, Museo del Barro (Asunción, 2007), Museo Emilio Caraffa (Córdoba, 2016), Soluciones Potenciales, Galería Ignacio Liprandi Arte Contemporáneo (Buenos Aires, 2016), Yo fui mujer, Centro Cultural Recoleta (Buenos Aires, 2015) Gansaigt, Art&Public (Ginebra, 2012, Dominio, MAC/VAL, Musée d´Art Contemporain (Val-de- Varne, 2011).

His work has been included in numerous collective exhibitions such as: My Buenos AiresMaison Rouge, Paris (2015); Mom, am I Barbarian?, 13ª Bienal de Estambul (2013); 30th Biennial of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana (2013); Arte en espacio público, Bariloche (2012); 7ª Bienal del MercosurGrito e escuta, Porto Alegre (2009); among other. 

Currently, he lives and works between Córdoba and Buenos Aires.
